Undersong

a room for lyrics — and a private one. Here's exactly what happens to the words you write.

everything stays on your device

Undersong has no server, no account, and no sign-in. The app never makes a network request: no analytics, no trackers, no cookies, nothing sent anywhere. Even the fonts ship with the app. Your lyrics exist in exactly one place — the browser you're writing in.

what gets saved

As you write, your work is saved to your browser's local storage on this device:

  • your songs and albums — every section, line, and title
  • any custom spark groups you've created
  • your color scheme and accent choice
  • small interface preferences, like which tool blocks are collapsed

That's the whole list. Nothing else is recorded — no usage history, no timestamps of when you wrote, no record of what you deleted.

files you save

The “everything”, “this album”, and “.txt” buttons create a file directly on your device, like any other download. “copy” uses your clipboard. These files never pass through a server, and they're yours: they only go where you choose to put them. Loading a file back in is read locally too.

removing your data

Because everything lives in your browser, clearing this site's data in your browser settings erases it completely — there is no copy anywhere else, and no way to recover it. The flip side of that privacy: Undersong can't back you up. If your work matters, save it to a file now and then.

one device at a time

Local storage doesn't sync. A song written on your phone won't appear on your laptop by itself — move work between devices by saving a workspace file on one and loading it on the other.

beneath every song there's a quieter one.
